Chance to visit Canada
BRITAINs most efficient and innovative pig producer stands to win a study trip to Canada in the MLCs Pig Award 2000.
The competition aims to identify, acknowledge and reward pig producers who have shown innovation in their businesses in response to the changing environment within the British pig industry.
Entrants will be judged on production of efficient, fast-growing pigs, records of full costs of production and the best innovation in the business last year. According to the MLC, the winner will be used as a model of good management and best practice to guide and inspire others in the industry.
It adds that innovation can cover anything which has improved the competitiveness of the business, from a marketing idea to adding value to the finished product, a new feeding regime or a training scheme for staff.
Entry details for the award can be obtained from Mick Sloyan or Lesley Jolley at the MLC (01908 844368). Closing date is Sept 23.
