Check imports for warble fly
TREAT or test imported cattle for warble fly to lower the risk of these pests establishing in Great Britain, advises a report in Vet Record, May 16, 1998 .
Between Jan 95 and July 97 cattle imported from Belgium, Canada, France and Romania showed up positive for warble fly antibodies in random tests, says the report.
Great Britain is considered free of warble fly, but there is a risk of importing infected cattle. Imported cattle should, therefore, be treated with an approved warble fly product or tested to ensure they are free from antibodies, it advises. *
