Chicken power for Fife homes
By FWi staff
A POWER station which converts chicken droppings into energy and fertiliser opened in Scotland on Wednesday (30 May) reports the Financial Times.
The 22 million plant, in the heart of the poultry farming industry in Fife, will handle 110,000 tonnes of poultry litter a year .
Using droppings from Grampian Farms, which are stored in a sealed building to contain odours, it will generate enough electricity for 20,000 homes.
