Clarkson reveals cancer diagnosis in series finale

Television presenter and farmer Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he was diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer during filming of the fifth series of Clarkson’s Farm.

The diagnosis is disclosed in the final episodes of the Amazon Prime series, released on 17 June, as Mr Clarkson tells farm manager Kaleb Cooper and land agent Charlie Ireland about his condition.

Speaking on camera, the 66-year-old says he underwent a biopsy after concerns about his health and was told he had cancer, which he described as “aggressive” but caught at a very early stage.

“Where it is, is of no concern to anybody,” he adds.

Mr Clarkson says he had “known since May” (2025) following a medical examination.

“I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy, and it is cancer, and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early,” he tells Mr Cooper and Mr Ireland.

Mr Clarkson says he had hoped to delay treatment until after harvest.

“I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment, but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle,” he says.

Challenging times

The revelation comes after a difficult period for the Diddly Squat Farm owner, who underwent treatment for blocked arteries in 2024 following a health scare.

Following the diagnosis, a visibly shocked Mr Cooper tells Mr Clarkson: “Look after yourself.”

Mr Ireland adds: “I just wish you a very, very speedy recovery,” prompting the presenter to reassure his colleagues: “Thank you. I promise you I will be fine.”

In the final episode, Mr Clarkson tells Mr Cooper he has undergone a procedure in his prostate. “The prostate, 10% of it’s dead,” he said. “The 10% where the cancer is.”

Later in the finale, Mr Clarkson is shown in a hospital bed awaiting surgery and reveals he has experienced complications during treatment.

“We started season five with me in a hospital bed and here we are at the end of season five and I’m back in a hospital bed,” he says.

Reflecting on the future, he adds: “What I wanted to say was if this is all successful, I’ll see you for season six, and if it isn’t, I won’t.

“Take care, everyone.”

Instagram post

Several hours before the final episodes were released, Mr Clarkson warned fans on Instagram that they would be a “really, really difficult watch”.
