Clean beds make for cleaner milk

KEEPING cow beds clean, dry and pH neutral with Dri-Li helps reduce milk cell counts, according to manufacturer ICI Nutrition.

It says Dri-Li, based on a natural mineral, is more absorbent than other bedding materials which encourage growth of harmful bacteria. Dri-Li sprinkled on or under bedding reduces multiplication of bacteria, and its buffering effect keeps beds pH neutral, minimising udder irritation, it claims. Cost is £450/t (01928-793080).
