Companies flock to slurry demo to show off machines
Grassland 2002 will have a
muck and slurry
demonstration for the first
time on May 22 and 23.
Several new machines are
due to be on show
WITH grass destined for grazing and silage being the main recipient of farmyard manure and slurry, it seems entirely appropriate that this years Grassland event should feature a mini Muck Event of its own.
Last years event had to be cancelled, so this will be the first opportunity for loader, tanker and spreader manufacturers to show their machines in action.
At least 13 companies are participating in the working demonstrations, including AGCOs Ag-Chem division, Fraser, Joskin, K-Two Sales, Reed, RECO, Rolland, Samson, Shelbourne Reynolds, Teagle, Tebbe, Harry West and Richard Western.
Spreaders will work in two sessions at 11am and 2pm, with slurry tankers put through their paces at 12 noon and 3pm.
Several newcomers are promised for the event, including the Dual Spreader 2750 from Harry West. This is a larger (12cu m) version of the companys established impeller side discharge spreader.
Like the others, it is capable of handling both slurry and yard manure. It will throw shredded material up to 21m to achieve a light, even dressing.
K-Two Sales will have an improved version of its Duo vertical beater muck spreader. The 12 tonne capacity model on show features a new 1000rpm gearbox and in-cab floor control for the bed chains.
Rustons Engineering (RECO) will launch its range of spreaders from Jeantil, while Teagle Machinery will show LeBoulch spreaders for the first time.
The LeBoulch rear discharge machines use twin vertical beaters behind a chain and slat moving floor conveyor. There are six models 7.2-20cu m capacity.
Rollands TCE Composting spreader is designed to cope with all types of manure and organic waste, and is available in four sizes from nine to 14 tonnes. It has a hydraulic rear hood, compost deflector plates and a guillotine slurry door. The twin spinning deck spreads up to 24m wide.
Joskin plans to show tankers with Airplus axle suspension and Variax hydraulically adjustable running gear. While the former is designed to improve the roadability of its machines, the Variax system allows weight transfer to the tractor to be varied by moving the position of the tankers single or twin axles. *
