Computers that keep track of cattle

THE TIMES reports on a computer company which is providing software to keep track of cattle.

Graham Technologys Elite Traceability system is being piloted by farmers around the country. It allows them to comply with the legal requirements of registering births and deaths and recording cattle movements by phone or by PC. It can also record weights, breeding control and estimated breeding values.

Ian Graham, principal of the company, said his system would let farmers provide the information in a way MAFF would approve.
