‘Consumers taking control of food’
OUTSPOKEN environmentalist George Monbiot delivers his regular broadside against the inequities of the agricultural industry in his weekly column in The Guardian.
But changes are afoot, he says: “Slowly, very slowly, consumers are regaining control over the food chain.”
Prof Monbiot cites examples of the major life sciences companies colluding with governments to adopt policies beneficial to their commercial interests.
The usual suspect, Monsanto, is pilloried.
