Farmer issues warning after livestock thefts

Livestock owners in Dorset are being urged to be vigilant following a series of sheep thefts.
Rustlers have repeatedly targeted a farm near Martinstown over the last fortnight, stealing around four lambs at a time.
In total, around 40 lambs have been stolen in the raids, worth around £1,250.
Farm manager Derek Vowles told the Dorset Echo: “We have had lambs going missing over a period of time and we have lost quite a few now.
“At the moment we are looking at between 40 and 50 – it’s a huge amount that’s going.
“We are doing all we can to increase security with lights and so forth; we are really going for it.”
Mr Vowles is concerned that other farmers could be targeted during the lambing season and he has warned others to protect their animals.
“I just want to make it known what’s happened to us so other farmers are aware of what’s going on.”
Dorset Police has appealed to anyone with information about the thefts to contact PC Jeremy Cuff of Dorchester Police on 101.
