GOVERNMENT offices across the country were visited yesterday (Thur) by farmers and representatives of allied industries who delivered the message that the farming crisis is threatening the stability of the whole rural economy.
In London, NFU and Scottish union leaders, along with those from the supply trade, presented Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Stephen Byers, with the rural charter endorsed earlier this year by nearly 30 organisations representing rural interests. *
