PIG producers in Northern Ireland are to be compensated for overweight animals culled under the governments welfare slaughter programme.
The scheme is only open until Tuesday (Sept 8), with payment limited to pigs over 110kg. Sows and other breeding stock are ineligible. Producers must also declare that the pigs being entered have been on their holdings for at least 60 days. *
