Cullers ignore offer of JCBs
By FWi staff
GOVERNMENT officials organising the foot-and-mouth culls are yet to take up an offer of help from heavy machinery giant JCB.
Anthony Bamford, chairman of JCB, offered an assortment of 50 machines to the Ministry of Agriculture nearly two weeks ago.
But the collection of Loadalls, backhoe loaders, articulated loading shovels and heavy excavators were still sitting at the factory, said a company spokesman.
“We are in regular contact with the Ministry of Defence,” the spokesman said on Thursday (5 April). “The machines are fuelled and ready to go.”
He added: “They are there to supplement what is already out there and when they are needed I am sure they will go.”
