CWS remains vulnerable to break-up
THE Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS), which is also the countrys largest dairy farmer, is still apparently open to takeover after last years aborted coup
A report in The Times examines the findings of an investigation into the hostile attempted takeover plans of financier Andrew Regan.
The newspaper concludes that Mr Regans plans came close to success and another takeover attempt could be mounted.
Meanwhile, The Daily Telegraph reports that the Hambros merchant bank and three former employees have been fined for their part in the takeover attempt.
