Debut for high yielding maize varieties

PLANT breeder CPB-Twyford is offering new high-yielding, stay-green maize varieties Rodrigo and Vogue direct to producers before their addition to the NIAB Descriptive List.

Vogue has a high starch and ME content and is in the first early category. It is suitable for all favourable maize growing areas, has excellent lodging resistance and produces high quality silage, it adds.

Medium early variety Rodrigo is high yielding and will suit more favourable maize sites where its full potential can be realised, says the company. With a stiff stem and good rooting characteristics, lodging is unlikely. It costs £48/50,000 seeds and Vogue costs £50/50,000 seeds (0800-1958509, fax 01763-207328).
