Defective kit KOs insurance claims

FARM equipment on the road should be in good working order if any insurance claims are to be honoured, warns Elaine Pyke of insurance specialist FarmWeb.

"Maintaining machinery properly will not only help avoid accidents, but should ensure that if one occurs, the resulting claim will not be rejected by an insurance company as a result of a defect," she says.

Ms Pyke points out that problems can arise in claims when it has to be proved that a defect – poor trailer brakes, for example – did not cause an accident.

FarmWebs checklist for machinery on the road includes, lights, brakes, beacons, couplings, and safe, secure loads. &#42
