Direct suppliers join up
ELEVEN direct supply milk groups from north and west England representing 1600 producers with about 1 billionn litres have combined to form a limited company.
The Association of Dairy Farmers includes A19 Group, East Riding Milk Group, Eskdale Group, Fylde Dairy Farmers Association, Premier Milk Producers, Prime Milk Producers, South West Cheshire, Tynedale Group, Waterford Farmers Association, Wettenhall Group and Wiseman Milk Group. The company has emerged from the previous association of Dairy Farmer Groups formed in 1997.
ADF secretary is Lancaster-based Maurice Warning, who says the company will make a formal application to join the newly formed Federation of Milk Groups.
“It is essential that milk producers achieve effective professional representation which is underpinned by a sizeable number of members with a substantial volume of production,” said Mr Waring.
