Disappointment across the region
STEPHEN HOWLETT, of BDR in Diss, Norfolk says, “a lot of farmers are becoming disappointed with yields.” The merchants cover the East Anglia region.
In the last week, later-drilled winter barley has been combined. These are tending to be below average in yield.
“The quality is not a problem.” Pearl, Regina and Fanfare all have mid range nitrogen, with only a few samples recording as low as 1.4% and as high as 2%.
Oilseed rape yields have also been below average for the region, although Canberra looks to be doing quite well.
