Diversification pays off for Cranswick
DIVERSIFICATION has helped Cranswick, which started as a pigfeed co-operative, achieve a 26% increase in pre-tax profits.
The group has moved into gourmet food, and pet foods and products to offset the fluctuations of agricultural commodity prices, reports the Financial Times.
Pre-tax profits to 31 March stood at 8.86 million, and turnover was 16% ahead at 157m.
Agribusiness turnover was down 8% to 62.7m.
