Drivers tragic error
A NORFOLK tractor driver made a fatal error when he stepped down from his cab after a spraying arm touched an overhead electric cable, an inquest has heard.
Andrew Jackson, 25, of Skeyton, who had been spraying at Ashlands Farm, Burgh, near Aylsham, suffered a fatal heart attack when the 11,000V current passed through him, the inquest in Norwich heard.
HSE inspector John Mendham said: "Mr Jackson made a tragic error. Had he jumped clear or stayed where he was he would not have suffered the tragic consequences. His feet probably touched the ground while he was still holding on to the tractor."
Experienced driver
Coroner William Armstrong said: "Mr Jackson was regarded as an experienced tractor driver and a competent and conscientious person held in high esteem by everyone."
A verdict of death by misadventure was recorded.
