Drought cuts Malaysian palm oil production
MALAYSIA – the worlds biggest producer of palm oil – is likely to drop its output to between 3.65m and 3.75m tonnes in the first half of this year because of drought.
This compares with 4.1m tonnes in the same period last year. Growers
estimate production for the whole of 1998 at 8.5m-8.8m tonnes, down from 9.1m tonnes in 1997.
