Drug tests ‘more ethical than farming’

By FWi staff

TESTING drugs on animals is more ethical than farming livestock, according to a company involved in pharmaceutical tests.

A spokesman for Huntingdon Life Sciences likened his companys work to that of farmers, saying animals were reared to be killed but were well-treated.

But he told The Daily Telegraph: “In some respects what we do is more ethical than farmers.

“At least our tests further mankind. Meat, it can be argued, is eaten purely for pleasure.”

HLS has until midnight to find a new source of financing or the Royal Bank of Scotland may pull its 22.6 million overdraft.
