Earlier return for OP dips?
By Fwi staff
SHEEP dip manufacturers believe that organophosphate dips will return to the market by mid to late October – at least two weeks earlier than previously thought.
The National Office of Animal Health, which represents dip makers, made the claim after meeting the governments Veterinary Medicine Directorate.
A NOAH spokesman said: “We are pleased everyone involved is working hard to ensure there are no unnecessary delays in returning OP dips to the market.”
MAFF announced on Aug 15 that it was prepared to bring back dips in the short term if a vented tap was fitted to containers and labels were improved.
The decision was made by ministers acting on advice from the Veterinary Products Committee which this week published its findings.
The veterinary committee recommended that dips should be brought back under interim solutions to avoid animal health and welfare problems.
