Early beet campaign

BEET factories will open up to two weeks earlier than last year in response to grower requests.

The four East Anglian factories, plus Newark and Bardney, will open on Thur, Sept 18. Kidderminster and York will follow a week later and Allscott on Tue, Sept 30. The first five sample digs of this years crop show above average yield potential, says British Sugar. The decision to open early follows consultation with the NFU and numerous requests from growers keen to start to as soon as possible, it adds.n
