East German farms on tail of West

EASTERN Germany is catching up with its western counterpart in annual income per farm.

In western Germany, the average income per farm is about DM80,000 ($44,000/£27,100) a year. The figure in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, east Germany, is DM62,000. In Saxony-Anhalt it is DM90,000.
