Egg labelling to cover colouring?
THE Food Advisory Committee is to review the labelling requirements for eggs and fish produced using feed supplements containing pigment.
In future, eggs may have to be labelled to show whether hens had been fed the colouring agent canthaxanthinThe Government is to ask the European Commission to lower the maximum permitted level of the agent in poultry rations. Jeff Rooker, food safety minister, said poultry farmers already used lower levels.
