El Nino threatens SA maize crop

South Africa fears the El Nino weather pattern will hit next years maize
crop. It could suffer up to a 50% reduction, the countrys agriculture
minister Derek Hanekomn said.

The National Maize Producers Organisation advised farmers to plant later
in the season. There will be no government drought relief.
