Focus falls on waste disposal problem
Farmers in Wales are being encouraged to attend an open day which addresses the question of how they should dispose of waste products once new regulations come in.
The day is being organised by the South and West Wales Machinery Ring, Farming Connect, Centre for Alternative Landuse and the Gelli Aur Development Farm.
The day, which will take place at the Gelli Aur Farm, Near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire on Oct 4, has been designed to help farmers cope with the handling and disposal of waste.
The day will include seminars on slurry injection and biogas from waste and there will also be working demonstrations on slurry injection and grass maintenance.
There will be trade stands that deal with waste plastic, fallen stock, incinerators and bunded tanks as well as other bodies such as Lantra, FWAG and the Countryside Council For Wales.
There will also be a special section on alternative crops and visitors will be able to visit trial sites to see miscanthus, willow and other crops.
The day starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. Telephone 01269 843208 or 01792 886305 for further details.
