Ernie to deliver for e-commerce
MILKMEN will soon be delivering more than the morning pinta, under a new plan by Express Dairies.
Express has formed a partnership with m-box, a company which helps firms set up internet shopping businesses.
Together they will supply a comprehensive orders and returns service aimed at retailers, dotcom companies and manufacturers, reports the Financial Times.
Under the plan, “new-look milkmen”, driving environmentally-friendly “new-look milk floats” will deliver orders in the mornings and evenings.
Express Dairies currently looks after 4000 milk rounds.
Meanwhile, the Indian federal government is to end duty-free imports of milk and dairy products, reports the Financial Times.
This move follows a long campaign by dairy co-operatives and politicians against large imports which are blamed for low domestic prices.
