Essex farm acquired with lottery grant

ESSEX Wildlife Trust has acquired Blue House Farm, a 243.23ha (601 acre) holding at North Fambridge, Essex, with help from a £825,000 Heritage Lottery grant.

The farm provided grazing for cattle whose milk supplied Lord Rayleighs farms, a once thriving dairy in the eastern counties. It rests on part of the River Crouch, an area deemed to be environmentally sensitive.

The aim is now to strike a balance between good management and conservation.
