EU drops tariff on Kiwi butter
NEWS Zealand hopes to rebuild its US$50m spreadable butter sales in Europe following a European Commission decision to treat the product as ordinary butter.
In 1996, the European Union imposed high tariffs on New Zealand spreadable butter, causing the suspension of shipments to Europe.
New Zealand took the issue to the World Trade Organisation which eventually ruled in its favour.
