EU farm reform under scrutiny next week
FARM reform will be high on the agenda when European Union agriculture
ministers begin a three-day informal meeting in Luxembourg on Sunday.
The European Commission regards a reduction in prices as an essential
precursor to enlarging the Union and the next round of world trade talks.
Most resistance is expected from Germany and France. The farming sector, including subsidies, accounts for nearly half of the Unions budget.
