Express Dairies to close two sites
EXPRESS Dairies is closing two dairies that it bought from Glanbia, the food manufacturer based in the Irish Republic, with the loss of 400 jobs.
Express, which bought Glanbias UK milk business last month, said the closures would boost efficiency and the long-term prospects of the business and employees.
The Hyde dairy in Manchester will close by the end of November, with the loss of 330 jobs.
A further 70 jobs are to be lost with the closure of the Island Way UHT processing plant and warehouse in Birmingham.
