Farm crisis triples cruelty cases
THE number of cases of cruelty against farm animals more than tripled last year, according to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).
The RSPCA blamed the rise in the mistreatment of cattle, sheep and pigs on the increased financial burdens put on farmers in the past year.
It said some farmers tried to save money by ignoring their livestocks welfare, while others were taking out frustration at falling incomes on their animals.
