A FARMER has been charged with the manslaughter of a woman who died when her car was involved in an accident on a muddy road outside his farm.
David Winter of Red House Farm, Halesworth, Suffolk, was not driving either of the two vehicles involved in the accident.
But has been charged as a result of a police investigation into presence of mud on the road where the crash took place.
He appeared at Lowestoft Magistrates Court on Tuesday (30 January) charged with the manslaughter of doctors wife Jennifer Townsley.
Her car was involved in a collision with a Land Rover on 22 November last year.
Mr Winter, 69, spoke during the hearing only to confirm his name and address.
He has been granted unconditional bail to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 08 February.
Ian Mayers represented Mr Winter and NFU Mutual.
