Farmers encouraged to give Tesco an earful

TESCO, Britains leading supermarket chain, has urged farmers to air their views on trading with supermarkets at this years Royal Show.

Under a “Talk to Tesco” banner, farmers have been invited to voice their concerns to the Tesco person directly involved with their product.

Andy Batty, Tesco commercial director, said it was time to clear the air after nearly a year of heated debated on the role of supermarkets within the food industry.

“The debate on the role of the supermarket in the food supply chain has raged throughout the year – often based on misinformation and misunderstanding. We want to use the Royal Show as an opportunity to clear the air. We are one of British farmings biggest customers and we want an open and positive relationship with our suppliers,” he said.

  • Tesco will exhibit in two areas at the Royal Show – on Avenue N in the livestock area and on 5th Street, where fresh produce will be the subject.
