Farmers sue France over beef

THE National Farmers Union has said it will take France to one of the countrys top courts over its refusal to lift its ban on British beef.

This warning came after a warning issued to French prime minister Lionel Jospin passed unheeded, reports the Financial Times.

The NFU believes that France, which is due to take over the European Union presidency next month, is unfit to lead the EU while the ban remains.

Mr Jospin was given until Monday (June 5) to reply.
