Farmworker killed by bull?
A BULL is thought to have crushed to death a farm worker attending two cows ready to give birth, reports the Newcastle Chronicle and Journal.
Frederick Thompson, 43, had headed out early on Tuesday (13 June) morning to the cows field near Greysouthern, Cumbria.
At lunchtime his body was discovered in the corner of an adjacent field near a water trough.
Mr Thompson, a single man from Great Clifton, Cumbria, had worked at Town Head Farm for about eight years.
A Health and Safety Executive spokesman said a four-year-old Friesian bull was in the field along with some heifers.
It is reported that two of the heifers were two due to give birth in two weeks.
When inspectors arrived the bull was pawing the floor and was in some distress. They believe it had trampled Mr Thompson.
A post-mortem will be carried out to confirm how Mr Thompson died.
The HSE spokesman said he believed the bull will be put down.
