Fears for farmland under RSPB plan
By FWi staff
THOUSANDS of acres of farmland could be threatened by plans to create coastal wildlife habitats to replace areas lost to rising sea levels, landowners have warned.
The Country Landowners Association has urged the RSPB to ensure that farms would not be damaged by its proposals.
The bird conservation charity wants to restore features such as salt marshes and mudflats to coastal land.
The RSPB has drawn up a list of 96 sites for possible development as habitats to replace land that falls victim to rising sea levels.
The locations of these sites were not published, however, in the societys feasibility study, Seas of Change.
