Feed supplier LAnson to buy direct

By FWi staff

ANIMAL feedstuffs supplier LAnson Brothers wants to buy more cereals and pulses direct from farmers.

The Ripon-based firm uses about 50,000t of wheat, 35,000t of barley and 33,000t of peas and beans in rations, and buys about 60% of these raw materials through the trade.

However, as the merchant base is shrinking, it wants to purchase 80% of its needs direct from farms in the north and the Midlands.

The Crops-to-Cash scheme offers prompt payment, financial security, minimal deductions and flexibility on grain movement, says the company.
