Finding a future for the family tree
APPLES will be getting the once-over on TV next week from top industrialist Sir John Harvey-Jones.
The ex-ICI chief will focus on the Peake family business in next Thursdays (Mar 23) episode of the three-parter Troubleshooter – Back in Business.
It marks a return journey for the 75-year-old who visited the Suffolk farm 10 years ago with the BAFTA award-winning programme on his advice-giving travels.
Leisure is now the mainstay of the Peakes set-up with a hotel, fitness club and conference centre complementing the golf course diversification. Apples are still important – but with the fruit market in crisis, maybe now could be the time for a re-think?
"It is a question mark for us," says Susanna Rendell, group managing director.
To see Sir Johns verdict on the business, turn on BBC2 at 9pm on Thursday.
