Flood damage in East Germany could cost DM1bn

Flood damage to East German agriculture could cost up to DM1bn
(£350m).

Heavy rains have caused the floods. Theo Waigel, Germanys finance
minister, has already said those suffering financial losses would be
able to delay tax payments. The government has already made DM20m immediately
available and has promised to increase relief funding if further assistance is needed.
