Floods hit Hungarian grain harvest
HAIL and flood damage have hit Hungarys grain harvest, reports the Financial Times.
Estimates are that 10% of the total of 766,000ha (189,276 acres) sown with wheat has been lost, according to ministry of agriculture figures.
Yields for autumn wheat are down almost 11%, from 4.15 million tonnes to 3.7m tonnes.
The shortfall has resulted in September futures jumping 15% in the past three weeks.
