Food crisis grips North Korea

THE United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation said North Korea faced a shortage of 1.9m tonnes of grain over the next year. It has been hit by drought, tidal waves and floods.

Pyongyang called on the international community to provide seed, fertiliser, pesticides and earth-moving equipment.
