Fourth GCS event

THE Gloucester Cattle Society staged its fourth national sale at Gloucester Mart, where the four-year-old bull Horton Clarion made the days top price of 580gns.

From Mr and Mrs R J Weights herd in Kent, Clarion was bought by The Castle Goring Farm, Worthing, East Sussex.

Breed society president D Hay, who runs the Faranford herd at Fairford, Glos, sold a yearling bull for 525gns. Faranford Jason, whose dam was a past reserve breed champion at the Three Counties Show, goes to K W Burgess of Cambs.

A four-year-old cow consigned by Mr Burgess drew the highest female bid of 440gns given for the four-year-old in-calf cow Fenton Kirsty 3rd. Buyer was Gilbert Welch, Pershore, Worcs.

Averages eight cows £376, five maiden heifers £270 and five bulls £392. (Bruton Knowles.) &#42
