Free virus recovery advice for 7500
By Olivia Cooper
MORE than 7500 farmers who have lost stock due to foot-and-mouth are being invited to a series of regional seminars by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

“The seminars will focus on the way forward, concentrating on practical help available to farmers who will be restructuring their business,” said a spokesperson.
Each farmer will then be entitled to five days of free one-to-one business advice from the Farm Business Advice Service.
Qualified farm advisors will advise on improving the farm business, diversification, or even retiring from farming, and will flag up available grants or tax benefits.
Restocking advice is also available on www.defra.gov.uk or from local Animal Health Offices.
The first seminars are expected to take place in late July or early August, dates to be confirmed as foot-and-mouth restrictions are lifted.
