Full catalogue at Perth event

MONDAY (Feb 3) sees the start of the four-day pedigree beef event at Perth.

Among this years entry of bulls are over 400 Charolais, plus nearly 200 Simmentals and a similar number of Limousin. Aberdeen-Angus are well represented with 165 bulls catalogued.

Auctioneer David Leggat says confidence in the beef industry has improved since the venue hosted its October offering. "But it will be difficult to match the values of last February."

This weekend, Mr Leggat will be keeping his fingers crossed for fine weather, hoping to avoid a repeat of last year, when heavy snowfalls disrupted proceedings.n
