Germany to face court over beef ban?
THE European Commission is expected to take legal action against Germany next week over the countrys delay in lifting its ban on British beef, reports the Financial Times.
The Commission has already filed a suit against France in the European Court of Justices.
The German government approved this month the ending of the embargo impose by the European Union in March 1996.
But the decision to end the ban can only be implemented if approved by the Bundesrat, the German upper house of parliament.
The Bundesrat will hold the vote on 17 March. However, at least five state governments want to retain the ban.
