Get creative – with bales
By FWi staff
ARTISTIC farmers can get creative to help promote British food in a new competition from FARMERS WEEKLY and the National Farmers Union.
Top prizes are on offer to the producers who build the best bale sculptures, following the success of last years hugely popular event.
Creations can be any shape or size, provided they incorporate the British Farm Standard — the little red tractor logo.
Sculptures must be built with safety in mind and ideally be visible from a busy road or railway.
The aim is to spread the message of the little red tractor which has been popping up on hundreds of supermarket lines across Britain.
The winner will receive 250 as well as a pair of tickets to AgriVision and five runner-ups will also get a pair of tickets to AgriVision.
NFU President Ben Gill said: “This campaign has been designed to remind the public of the high standards of home-grown produce.
“We hope that by displaying large sculptures up and down the country people will be reminded of the attention to food safety, kindness to animals and environmental protection that go into producing British food displaying the little red tractor logo.”
Last years entries included sculptures shaped as farm animals, people, buildings, machinery and even one of a ship.
British Farm Standard banners and logos can be obtained free of charge from regional NFU offices.
To enter, send a colour photograph of the sculpture to:
