GM-free demand good news for pulse growers

By FWi staff

PULSE growers can expect a good level of premium next year as feed compounders warm to the benefits of peas and beans in a range of rations, says Geoffrey Gent of PGRO.

Price levels are currently 20/t more than feed wheat, he points out.

And their status as GM-free is helping to win support from other areas of the feed industry.

Mr Gent adds that the area of peas and beans being grown has held up well, despite the introduction of Agenda 2000 reforms.

Their value as a preparation for first wheats is appreciated by growers.
