THE large number of good bulls at Lancaster Holstein dairy sales almost upstaged the heifer trade and produced the days top price of 1150gns.
Ringside favourite was Fordswood Evade – Wade x Blackstar x Shiek – from Fylde farmers J and M Walmsley. This yearling by Parker Aero Wade is out of Giffendales Star Emily RM Ex-92 that has just completed 12,400kg with her fourth calf. Buyers were A A & * * Capstick, Sedbergh, Cumbria.
Miles Ward and Carl Smiths Fatal-sired bull Stockfarm Harvey took top prize in the production/inspection class. He is a grandson of the great cow Juniper Cleitus Heather and stayed locally with J D and E M Wallbank at 1080gns.
The freshly calved heifer Garsby Inspire Doll 3, by Weeton Celebration, won the female title for W & G Cornthwaite, Garstang and made 1020gns to D Hodgson, Leyburn, North Yorks.
